Where does the train tour begin/end?
There are various departure locations for The Mainlander Train Tour, please review your specific Tour options via our website www.mainlander.co.nz
Is the train accessible?
We do not currently have the facilities to accommodate fixed wheelchairs or electic wheelchairs or electric scooters or large prams, however collapsible zimmer frames and walkers (and they must be fully collapsible) are acceptable. Passengers using collapsible zimmer frames, or walkers, should have the ability to board the train, unaided.
Are there toilets onboard?
Yes, there are toilets on board the Train.
Is there food & beverage available on board?
The Mainlander has a Café on board which offers light snacks and refreshments for purchase. Please review your tour options carefully as some tours offer a 'pre-purchased' lunch box, if you are unsure please contact us. Bookings@pounamutourismgroup.com.
When and where do I 'check-in'?
Check-in is available at most locations 30-minutes prior to the Trains departure time, at the platform, depending on where you are booked to depart from. Please review your tour options carefully as regional platforms are not crewed.
Can I move about the Train?
Yes, passengers are welcome to move from car to car. Some restrictions on moving about the train may apply while passing through tunnels.
Can I request a seat?
We are unable to guarantee seat selection depending on the number of requests we receive for any given departure. Please ensure you complete the comments and/or notes section when making your reservation should you wish to be seated with a group.
Can I buy a Gift Voucher?
Yes, we have Gift Vouchers available. Please contact us bookings@pounamutourismgroup.com.
How much Luggage can I bring?
Carry on maximum 5kg weight. Checked Luggage, 1 piece per paying guest maximum 20kg. While on board you can access your hand luggage at any time.
Is Wi-Fi available on board the Train?
Wi-Fi is 'not' currently available onboard our Trains.
